On March 31st Montreal Bangladeshi Canadian Community Celebrate Bangladesh 36th independence day, which named as “Bangladesh Day-2007”. National Bangladeshi-Canadian Council (NBCC) organized a cultural events with new generation Bangladeshi-Canadian as well 71' war documentary and cinema presentation for the new generation Bangladeshi Canadian at 419 St-Roch center Parc extension on 31st March,2007. It was attended by a large number of people and new generation Bangladeshi-Canadian youths. where green and red flags fluttered in the wind while it playing on live Bangladesh and Canada national anthem by the children's . It was also attended by Acting Bangladesh high commissioner Mr. Fayed Masud Mahmood Khundokar, Ex Justice Minister MP Mount Royal (LIB) Dr. Irwin Cotler, MP Papineau (CP) Vibian Bardot, MNA Lorier-Dorion (PLQ) Jarry Sklavounous, ,City Councilor Mary Deros and Canada's new generations young leader Justin Trudeau. Special messages were deliberate by the Canada Prime Minister Hon. Stephen Harper. Monir Hossain, President of NBCC, welcomed the guests and paid rich tributes to all those who sacrificed their lives in the war of 71' to create a new nation in the world in the name of Bangladesh. " We celebrate this day with our all
respect and sympathy to those who bravely died for our country to have
own name own culture. Certainly it didn't come easily. After 3 million
Bangladeshi man and woman got killed and inhumanly abused in nine months
period war with West Pakistan (by then) history like you wouldn't
believe," Shamshad Ara Rana, said. "This evening, and this organization, is for the
children and tomorrow's youths," President of the National
Bangladeshi-Canadian Council Monir Hossain told to the audience.
"Everything that we're doing here, we're doing for your children and
your dream future youths, whom are going to lead us in the near future.
It's important that they grow up with the things that many of us didn't
have: steady employment, security and a best democratic process." He
said, it's important that all multicultural people get up, get out, and
get involve in all level politics and civic life. This is what
Bangladeshi Canadian Council trying hard for integrate Bangladeshi
Canadian community's into the Canadian as well Quebec social systems. He
said, "This is for the children" And indeed, children's and youths were
central to our community's strength and they are the future of our
community's life. many of them today accompanied by their parents to
know our great history, which included documentary movies, regional
foods, music and traditional dance for the families assembled. Representative from deferent communities
organizations were among the invitee guests and many of them Bangladeshi
community organization representative there to celebrate the evening. Bangladesh Day-2007 Special Honorary Award presented by MP Dr. Irwin Cotler to Journalist (late) Himangsu Shekhar Dhar who had been actively helped before and after the independence of Bangladesh and always stand and speak for the human rights(left). Also Honorary award presented by Khondaker Mutalib to Sayed Zaman Bablu for his contribution to the Montreal cultural life.(right) Guest of Honor HC Masud Khundokar took to the stage, stating "It is a great pleasure for the second time in Montreal to celebrate 36 years of independence of Bangladesh. peace of life and sharing, and of continuing life in Canada" he greet audience. Speaking also by MP dr. Irwin Cotler said, this is my 3rd time participating in this historic celebration. I am so great full to this hosting organization NBCC because of their concern about their future generation Bangladeshi-Canadian. which really makes me humble.Congratulation on having so many young people here tonight. It's the first step to transferring our culture to the next generation, because we should never forget where we come from," I must say that NBCC not just helping their community here in Montreal instead this organization also working with the all kind of government levels and international communities specially in the international human rights section. Recently elected MNA Jarry thanks to the Bangladeshi community for helping in the election process and said ‘For the Bangladeshi and their children's celebrating the evening tonight and learning about their culture and history, it certainly seemed good. And its shows that the Bangladeshi community is a big family. Councilors Mary Deros also pass her greeting to the Bangladeshi community and shows her sympathy to those who fought and sacrifice their life for the country. Special guest Canada's new generation leaders Justin Trudeau pass his greeting to the community and memorize his travel story in Bangladesh during his father Prime Minister period. He said. I still remember what a friendly Bangladeshi peoples are and tonight I find it again. Later Bangladesh Day medals were Awarded to the art
competition winners.
